827,817. Motor casings. SCINTILLA Ltd. April 9, 1958 [April 12, 1957], No. 11189/58. Class 35. The casing of a motor, e.g. for a domestic appliance, consists of two U-shaped sheet metal strips 3, 4 secured to the stator 1. As shown, the stator is rebated to receive the ends 3<SP>1</SP>, 41 of the strips, but in alternative arrangements (not shown) the stator periphery is partially rebated to accommodate bifurcated strip-ends or the turned-down edges of the strips. In another arrangement the legs of one strip extend beyond the stator to embrace the legs of the other strip to which they are attached by screws, and locating bosses formed on the legs of one cover engage holes in the other, while similar bosses engage axial slots in the stator periphery. In all cases screws 7 secure the covers to the stator, and except in the last arrangement, dowels 8 ensure alignment. Self-aligning spherical bearing bushes 19 are held in the seatings 20 by spring plates 22 which are passed through openings 21 to lock behind lugs 23 formed on the casing strips. Brush holders 25 are either a push-fit in holes in one casing strip, or are soldered therein.
