Abstract

826,345. Vehicle movers. SHARP, J. R., KAYE, E., and ARNOT, A. E. R. March 9, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6939/55. Class 79(1) In an aircraft handling trolley comprising a steering wheel at one end, arms carrying wheels at the other, and a device between the arms for holding and lifting a device for supporting an aircraft wheel 32, the wheel supporting device comprises a ring 11 with ground engaging supports 34 which do not interfere with a bearing surface on the ring engaging the holding device. As shown the ring 11 is formed in two halves pivoted together at 15 and connectible by a spring latch 16. Secured to each half is a seating member 31 for the wheel 32. Projections 33 on the ring carry the supports 34 which may carry castor wheels. The bearing surface in the form of projecting flanges 13, 14 co-operates with conical rollers on the holding device on the trolley. According to the Provisional Specification the ring may have prongs extending over the top of the aircraft wheel as described in Specification 826,343.
