826,166. Potato slices, corrugated. STAHMER, B. Nov. 5, 1956, No. 33729/56. Class 5(1). [Also in Group VI] A raw or cooked potato slice has, on one face, a plurality of alternate ridges 26 and grooves 27, Fig. 5, forming corrugations, and a smooth opposite face 32. The thickness 40, from the bases of the grooves to the face 32, is between one-quarter and one-half of the overall thickness 39, from the crests of the ridges to the face 32. The amplitude 43 of the corrugations is greater than the thickness 40. There are between 3 and 25 ridges per inch. The distance 46 between the crests of adjacent ridges is greater than one-half of the thickness 40. The ridges and grooves may be curved with a radius of curvature ranging between 3 and 9 inches. Perforations 50 may be made in the slice. It may be cooked in liquid vegetable shortening containing salt. Apparatus for slicing potatoes comprises a circular rotatable table 54, Fig. 7. Attached to the table are diametral pairs of straight-edged knives 57 and corrugated knives 60. Immediately beneath the cutting edge of each knife, the table is formed with a slot 69 through which pass the slices 84. Potatoes are fed on to the rotating table, along a diametral pair of stationary shoots 63 each terminating in a pocket 64 in which each potato 72 is held in a slicing position. The upper surface of the table is formed with corrugations corresponding to those of the knives 60.
