[Also in Group XXXV] A multiphase bus-bar arrangement wherein each bus-bar is physically and electrically separated from each of the others has each bus-bar enclosed by a sectionalized housing, each section being assembled in the factory whilst the bus-bar is inserted into the housing and the housing assembly completed on the site. Each prefabricated section of the housing comprises two portions 13, 14, the portion 13 being again in two sections 27, 28 connected together by a movable bellows 31. The section 13 has at its ends supporting rings 11, 12 which are welded thereto in the factory, the welds being indicated by the full black lines 29, 30. The expansible bellows 31 is made'from two shaped pieces 32, 33 of aluminium factory-welded, as shown at 34. The piece 32 is factory welded at 35 to the housing section 27, a stiffening-piece 37 being inserted to relieve the bellows 31 of mechanical strain. The piece 33 of the bellows is factory-welded at 36 to the housing section 28, there being an electrically-insulating member 38 between the housing section 28 and the stiffener 37 to prevent circulating currents in the bellows 31. Thus the bellows 31 allows relative movement between the two sections 27, 28 of the housing. After delivery to the site the bus-bar 10 is inserted into the housing wherein it is supported on insulators 15 adjustably carried in'the supporting rings 11, 12. After assembly on site the section 14 is welded to the support rings at 45, 46 by the hatched areas. Finally the housings are secured to cross-members 23, 24, the supporting rings 11 being insulatingly secured to members 23, whilst the supporting-rings 12 are directly secured to the members 24. If the housing need not be completely water-tight, inspection covers may be provided.
