824,737. Friction-damped rubber-springs. MINER Inc., W. H. Aug. 6, 1957 [Aug, 27, 1956], No. 24716/57. Class 108(3) Shell A, Fig. 1, shown in cross-section in Fig. 3, contains rubber cushions C, friction units D and plunger B retained by bolts 30. Each unit C comprises metal plates 32, Fig. 1, bonded to a rubber pad 34 which has a peripheral groove 36. Frictional units D comprise metal plates 38 bonded to the sides of rubber pads 40 and friction shoes 46 bonded to the ends of rubber pads 40. In operation compression of units D causes friction shoes 46 to engage the inner surface of casing A to provide friction damping.
