Abstract

A herbicidal and plant-growth inhibiting composition comprises as active ingredient, preferably in an amount between 0.5 and 95% by weight, one or more carbamide oximes of the general formula <FORM:0824534/VI/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals containing not more than 8 carbon atoms, or R1 and R2 may be joined together to form a cyclic radical or may be unsaturated alkyl radicals, or alkyl groups substituted with or interrupted by hetero atoms or substituted by halogen atoms or nitro, alkyl, hydroxy or alkoxy groups, or heterocyclic radicals, e.g. pyridine or furan, or wherein R3 may be an aryl radical or an aryl or alkyl radical linked to two amino groups at the same time, thus including compounds which contain two carbamide-oxime groups and an inert solid, e.g. talc, natural clay, pyrophyllite, diatomaceous earth or a flour such as walnut shell, wheat, redwood, soya bean or cottonseed flours; fats, such as lard and hydrogenated vegetable oils, a liquid carrier, e.g. cyclohexanol, acetone, ethanol, isobutanol, furfural, isopropyl acetate, a spray oil and alkylated naphthalene or a fat such as cottonseed oil, olive oil or paraffin oil. There may also be included a surface-active dispersing agent, preferably in an amount not exceeding 30% by weight, also one or more known herbicides, insecticides, fungicides or fertilizers. Specified active ingredients N-phenyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-4-chlorphenyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-3-chlorophenyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-p-methyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-p-isopropyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-2,4-dichlorophenyl carbamide acetone oxime, N-4-chlorophenyl carbamide methyl ethyl ketone oxime, N-2-chlorophenyl carbamide acetone oxime, N - (2 - methyl - 5 - chlorophenyl) carbamide acetone oxime, N-4-ethoxyphenyl carbamide acetone oxime and o -chloro-n-hexyl carbamide acetone oxime.
