Abstract

A composition for combating weeds or controlling the growth of plants comprises as active agent a compound of the following formula: <FORM:0840912/I/1> wherein X stands for hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or nitro, Y stands for hydrogen or halogen, and a solid carrier or a liquid carrier containing an emulsifier. There may also be included in the composition surface active agents, fertilizer, pesticide or fungicide and/or herbicidal agent of another kind. Specified active ingredients are propionic acid-(p-chlor-anilide) and its chlorine substituted compounds. Specified liquid carriers are cyclohexanol, acetone, ethanol, isobutanol, furfurel, isopropyl acetate, spray oils, alkylated naphthalene, fats, cotton seed oil, olive oil, lard, paraffin oil, hydro-genated vegetable oil. Specified solid carriers are talcs, natural clays, pyrophyllite, diatomaceous earth, and flours such as walnut shell, wheat, redwood, soya bean, cottonseed flours.ALSO:A composition for combating weeds or controlling the growth of plants comprises as active agent a compound of the following formula <FORM:0840912/VI/1> wherein X stands for hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or nitro, Y stands for hydrogen or halogen, and a solid carrier or a liquid carrier containing an emulsifier. There may also be included in the composition surface active agents, fertilizer, pesticide or fungicide and/or herbicidal agent of another kind. Specified active ingredients are propionic acid (p-chloro-anilide) and its chlorine substituted compounds.
