Abstract

Ethylene and hydrogen and/or up to 10% by volume of propylene are polymerized with a catalyst as disclosed in Specification 785,314. The hydrogen may be present in up to 5% by volume, preferably 2.5%, and paraffinic hydrocarbons such as methane, ethane and propane may also be present in the ethylene used. Polymerization may be with or without a solvent, e.g. ethylene itself or paraffinic, aromatic or alicyclic hydrocarbons, and antioxidants may be included. Other reaction features may be as in Specification 785,314. Specifications 757,524, 762,200, [both in Group IV (b)], and 810,023 also are referred to.
