Abstract

823,569. Cable armouring. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. March 8, 1957 [March 10, 1956], No. 7747/57. Class 36. A submarine cable 1 has a protective armouring comprising tube lengths, which are interconnected so that there is a limited amount of angular movement at each joint. Each length may have an outwardly bent end 2 fitting within the enlarged end 3 of the adjacent length. Angular movement at the joint is linited by an inturned flange 4. Each length may be divided longitudinally, each part being provided with complementary tongues 5 and recesses 6 to prevent longitudinal displacement. The parts are held together by clips 8 which are engaged over lugs projecting outwardly from each part.
