Abstract
822,571. Railway vehicle undercarriages. GENERAL STEEL CASTINGS CORPORATION. Sept. 12, 1956 [Sept. 22, 1955], No. 27871/56. Class 103(6) [Also - in Group XXXI] In a railway truck, the bolster 8, Figs. 3 and 4, is received between the side webs 7 of a single transom of U-shaped crosssection and is pivotally suspended therefrom at each end by swing hangers 17, carrying bolster supporting cross-bars 19, which pass through apertures 18 in the webs 7. The webs 7 are united by horizontal webs 9...12 and by vertical webs 13. The upper edges of the webs 7 are provided with flanges 14 having down-turned extensions 15 for pins 16 supporting the swing hangers. Preferably, the transom structure 7, 9...13, is cast integral with the truck frame wheel pieces 6, Fig. 2, which frame is mounted on wheel axles 2, through springs 5 and equalizers 4 in known manner. Each axle 2 carries a drive motor housing 23, having lower and upper lugs 24, 25 between which is positioned a spring unit 26 mounted upon a pair of horizontally spaced brackets 27 on the associated web 7 of the transom structure. The units 26 are disposed between the swing hangers 17.
