Abstract

822,568. Temperature - sensitive apparatus. RHEOSTATIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 20, 1956, No. 25379/56. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXVI] A temperature-sensitive device comprises a balanced-armature relay 18, one coil 16 of which is connected in series with a resistance 14 having high positive temperature coefficient and the other coil 17 of which is connected in series with a resistance 15 having high negative temperature coefficient. To control the heat supplied to a space, resistance 15 is placed outside to measure outside temperature and resistance 14 measures the temperature of the source of heat supply. If the outside temperature rises the resulting increased current through 17 causes the relay to close contact 19 which decreases the heat supply until the current through coil 16 is sufficient to rebalance the relay. Similarly closing contact 20 increases the heat supply.
