820,680. Door stops and fastenings; slidable jaw clamps. MOODY, R. G. J. July 23, 1957, No. 23281/57. Classes 44 and 65(1) A releasable safety device for securing the door of a motor vehicle comprises a clamp having jaws 1, 2, attachable to the vehicle's roof gutter, a slotted lever 8 extending downwardly from the clamp to form a door stop and an arm 7 extending upwardly to contact the roof. Rubber pads 7a, 8a are carried on the arm and the lever respectively. To permit the opening of the door the wing-nut 6 is slackened back and the lever 8 either raised or pivoted about the bolt 5 to clear the door rail 4a. A lock may be associated with the clamp. In a modification the stop member is integral with the clamp.
