Abstract
820,211. Preserving liquids. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 13, 1955 [Dec. 16, 1954], No. 35747/55. Class 49. A device for use in preventing contamination of liquids when drawing off from a vessel in which they have been sterilized comprises a tube extending inwards from the outlet of the vessel and having a horizontal part in communication with a chamber or vertical tube open at or near its lower end, the arrangement being such that when the vessel is filled, the outlet being closed, no liquid enters the horizontal part. In one form, the horizontal part 5, Fig. 1, extending inwardly from the outlet 3 of the tank, is formed integral with the vertical tube 6, being connected thereto by the section 7. In another form, the horizontal part 5 has the section 7 ending near the top of a chamber 12, Fig. 3, the upper end of the tube 6 terminating at a lower level than the end of the section 7. In a further modification the horizontal part is connected with the top of a chamber having an opening at the bottom.
