Abstract

819,553. Pneumatic tyre tread. PIRELLI S.p.A. April 1, 1957 [Jan. 31, 1957], No. 10633/57. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre tread A comprises at least three circumferential ribs 1 separated by tortuous circumferential grooves 2, the ribs 1 being odd in number and each having a tortuous circumferential incision 3 disposed centrally around its length, and the grooves 2 being disposed symmetrically on opposite sides of the central plane of the tyre. The grooves 2 and incisions 3 may be zig-zag or sinusoidal and of varying pitch along their length, the configuration of the incision 3 in the central rib 1 being preferably the same as that of the incisions in the laterally outer ribs 1. The incisions 3 are not so deep as the grooves 2, and the laterally outer ribs may have circumferentially spaced transverse slots 4 therein extending into the side walls B, C.
