Abstract

819,386. Rail-spikes. ELASTIC RAIL SPIKE CO. Ltd. Feb. 13, 1958 [Feb. 22, 1957], No. 6119/57. Class 89(2) A rail-spike comprises a shank 1 with resilient divergent-arms 2, 3 extending from one end of the shank to bear obliquely on the top of a rail-flange at locations spaced apart on each side of the shank. The arms are twisted about their longitudinal-axes so that the rail-bearing-surfaces 9a be in a common-plane at an angle to the horizontal of about 10 degrees, approximately matching the slope of the uppersurface of the rail-flange. Specification 590,538 is referred to.
