Abstract

818,601. Reactance valve circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Dec. 14, 1956 [Dec. 15, 1955], No. 38285/56. Class 40 (5). An oscillator is synchronized relative to a signal by applying its oscillations and the signal each separately to one or other of the cathode and grid of a combined reactance tube and phase detector connected across the tuned circuit of the oscillator to produce a variable bias on the reactance tube, produced by grid current, stabilizing the frequency and phase of the oscillator. As shown, the oscillations are applied across the cathode resistor R K of the reactance tube V 1 and the sync. signal to the grid through a coupling capacitor C 1 on which variable bias develops, but the oscillations and sync. pulse may be applied respectively to the grid and cathode. In a modification, the oscillations are applied to a tap on a resistor connected by capacitors between the anode and cathode of the reactance tube, to compensate the direct effect of the sync. pulse on the oscillator circuit.
