817,450. Refrigerated vehicles. ELFVING, T. M. Nov. 26, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 36124/56. Class 29 The air of the storage compartment of a refrigerated railway van is cooled by forced circulation over a heat exchanger 20 of a secondary circuit, the liquid flowing in which is cooled by a second heat exchanger forming part of a compression refrigeration machine situated in a separate machine compartment, the liquid circuit being disconnectable between the heat exchangers. The liquid circuit includes a pump 23 and an electrically heated coil 54. Preferably trichlorethylene is used as liquid medium. The refrigeration machine 30 is mounted on slides for easy removal and includes an insulated coil 39, comprising inner and outer pipes, the inner 40 of which forms the evaporator of the refrigeration machine and the outer, 42, the second heat exchanger of the secondary circuit. A diesel generator, 58, is also removable as a unit from. the machine compartment in similar fashion to the refrigeration machine.
