Abstract
The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0817311/IV (c)/1> where R and R1 may be the same or different and are Me and/or MeO radicles. They are made by diazotizing an appropriate aniline derivative and coupling with the naphthol carboxylic acid amide component. Preferably a medium acid to Congo is used for coupling and surface-active agents are advantageously present. The dyestuffs are yellowish-red pigments which may be used in graphic printing and wall-paper printing, for colouring oil-, nitro- and synthetic resin lacquers and for dyeing spinning solutions. In examples, the following dyestuffs are made: (1) 1-amino-2-toluene - 5 - sulphonic acid - (41 - carbomethoxy)-phenyl ester, and (2)-(41-acetophenone)-ester --> 1 - (21 - hydroxynaphth - 31 - oylamino)-2-methoxy benzene and (3) 1-amino-2-toluene - 5 - sulphonic acid - (41 - carbomethoxy) - phenyl ester --> 1 - (21 - hydroxy -naphth - 31 - oylamino)-2-methyl-benzene, and in (4) a printing paste is made from the dyestuff of (2) mixed with benzyl-p-hydroxydiphenyl-polyglycolether and poured into a mixture of butadiene and methyl methacrylate with a small proportion of triacryl-formal to give a paste which is thickened by the addition of glycol or glycerol and aqueous methylcellulose, prints on cotton or regenerated cellulose being developed by steaming and heating.
