Abstract
A switch contact is made from an amalgam of mercury and a suitable noble metal e.g. gold, silver or palladium. The percentage of gold may be 5.5, 9.3, 11.5, 13.3 or 17.3. Percentage of palladium may be 2.55, 3.70, 4.56 or 6.85, and of silver may be 5.5, 7.20, 9.70 or 14.33. Silver-palladium may be used in the following percentages, 7.20 per cent silver and 0.1 per cent palladium or 14.33 per cent silver and 0.1 per cent palladium.
