Zusatzpatent zum Hauptpatent Nr. 197689. Quecksilberkontaktvor richtung.
Additional patent to the main patent No. 197689. Mercury contact device. The invention relates to a mercury contact device in which, according to the patent claim of the main patent, two chambers each containing mercury mass connected to an electrical line are arranged one behind the other in the axial direction, which chambers are connected to one another by a channel which cannot be penetrated by mercury one that passes a mass of mercury completely through the urgent contact plug.
whose longitudinal movement establishes a connection between the two mercury masses or can be interrupted.
The additional invention relates to a further embodiment of the mercury contact device in that the backward movement of the contact plug to separate the connection between the mercury masses contained in the two chambers is brought about by the thrust which the one mercury mass exerts on a body that is attached to the contact plug and the mercury mass penetrates into this on the side opposite to the front end of the plug when the ion-tact plug is pushed forward.
In the drawing, an execution example of the subject invention is shown in longitudinal section. In one made of insulating material, e.g. B. synthetic resin or glass existing, hollow cylindrical body per 1 is also made of insulating material, the cavity of the body 1 in two axially one behind the other Kam numbers dividing partition wall 2. This wall is ver with a continuous, both ends slightly enlarged hole 14 see in which the front end portion of the contact plug 16 is slidably guided. In one end of the bore of the body 1 is an electrically conductive on the inside, i. H. the end facing the body 1 drilled out ter contact pin 6 inserted, the cavity of which a filled with a mercury mass 17 chamber 18 forms.
On the other side of the wall 2 is the other chamber 20 which receives a mercury mass 19 and into which a metal sleeve 21, which is expanded at the inner end, protrudes so far that it is in conductive connection with the mercury mass 19. The sleeve 21, which partially delimits the chamber 20, takes at the outer end an existing insulating material, the chamber 20, respectively. Sleeve 21 to the outside closing guide sleeve 22 for the contact plug 16.
The outer, resp. the rear end of the contact plug 16 carries a pushbutton 16 'with which the contact plug can be pushed forward by hand or mechanically; to immerse the same with the front end in the mercury mass 17 and thereby establish the conductive connection between the two mercury masses 17 and 19, respectively. to close the circuit in which the ausgebil finished like a fuse cartridge, z. B. between two clamp springs an additional contact device is turned on.
The contact plug 16 carries within the chamber 20 on the side of the mercury mass 19 opposite its front end a conically tapered body 23 made of a specifically light material, e.g. B. cork, rubber, etc. If the con tact plug 16 forward, d. H. pushed inside ge, the body 23 penetrates the mercury mass 19 a. The inside diameter of the front end of the sleeve 21 is sufficiently large to provide space for the mercury mass displaced by the body 23 to give way.
The specifically heavy mercury exerts a pushing force on the specifically light body 23 in the sense of the backward movement of the contact plug 16, so that when it is released it is immediately moved back into the starting position, i.e. the circuit is automatically interrupted.
