Abstract
815,587. Mixing machines. WINGET Ltd. March 23, 1956 [Dec. 24, 1954; Oct. 7, 1955], Nos. 37368/54 and 28672/55. Class 86 In a drum for a mixing machine, e.g. a concrete mixer, the whole or major portion thereof is moulded from flexible synthetic or natural rubber, or from a semi-rigid plastics material such as polythene, which is stiffened and made to retain its shape mainly by the mixing blades or buckets. Fig. 2 shows two cup or dish-shaped drum halves 30, 31 which are secured by bolts to a central steel drum-ring 27 of known construction providing a track 28 for supporting rollers, not shown, and a gear wheel 29 for engagement with the drumdriving mechanism and each is formed with a large circular opening into which is fitted a pressed steel drip-ring 37 secured to a thicknened seating 35 around the periphery of the opening by bolts. The mixing buckets 40 are fixed within the drum in angularly-spaced relationship, each bucket being three-sided and comprising a base part 41 which is secured to the drumring 27 by a bracket 41A and two sides 42, 43 preferably bolted at 40A to the drum halves or at 40B to the drip-rings. Alternatively the sides of the bucket are bolted to steel bars which may be located in open or closed channels formed in radial ribs extending from the driving-ring to the drip-rings or in a rib concentric with these rings. In one modification, Fig. 6, a tilting drum comprises a frusto-conical end portion 50, a cylindrical intermediate portion 51 and a dished rear end portion 52 provided with a central hole into which the driven column or hub 54 of the drum is fitted, and the drum is caused to retain its shape by the buckets or blades 55 which are circumferentially spaced and are each rigidly attached to the hub by a pair of brackets 56, 57; the blades may also be secured by brackets 60, 61 to flat steel bars 58, 59 mounted on the drum,
