Abstract

The shaft in which the rotary cutters are mounted extends crosswise to the direction of travel, and is fixed to the rear tractor linkage. The rotary cutters are fixed to vertical shafts and are equidistant from each other. They are mounted inside rectangular casings inside the hollow support shaft and are joined together by tubes bolted to the flanges of the casings, and tubes, connected to each vertical shaft by gearing. Each casing is covered by a circular disc bolted down. A sleeve on the top of each vertical shaft supports a bottom and top cap around the circumference of which are flat, circular collars spaced equidistant apart and vertically parallel to each other. Pins are inserted vertically through top and bottom collars and have the cutters wound round them.
