Abstract

815,269. Cycle stands. ABIX (METAL INDUSTRIES) Ltd., and GOLDSWORTHY, L. H. Nov. 7, 1957 [Nov. 7, 1956], No. 33976/56. Class 136(1) A bicycle holder comprises sheet metal jaws 2 pivotally supported in a bracket 1 and having portions extending beyond the pivots 5 inwards within the bracket where they are engaged by springs 6 adapted to hold the outer portions of the jaws open, the two jaws acting as levers :so that as the wheel tyre is thrust in between the jaws the inwardly extending portions of the jaws are forced outwards against the action of the springs 6 and the outer portions move inwards to grip the wheel vertically. Apertured overlapping right angle lugs 3, 4 are provided at the ends of the bracket side wall and the jaws 2. Pivot bolts 5 are inserted in the apertures. Bolt holes are formed in the bracket 1 so that it may be attached by bolts 7 to a wall or other support. A reversible angle plate 8 may be attached to the back of the bracket 1 when it is desired to hold the bicycle at angles inclined to the right or left of the wall, for left or right hand approach of the cycle wheel.
