815,251. Earth-boring machines. SQC. FRANCAISE DE CONSTRUCTION DE BENNES AUTOMATIQUES BENOTO. Aug. 24, 1956 [Aug. 29, 1955], No. 25@808/56. Class 68(1) An earth-boring machine comprises a boring tube which is rotated in alternate directions whilst an axial force is imparted thereto and a grab 7 for breaking up and removing the material inside the tube. The frame 5 of the machine rests on jacks 6, 9 and incorporates two uprights 11 which are pivoted about a point 12 by jacks 4 and are held in any desired position by struts 13. The machine also comprises a driving device for the tube (see Fig. 5, not shown), a slidable carriage 14 for supporting the grab, a discharge hopper 15 fast with said carriage, a winch 19 for the grab and a fixed collar 8 for guiding the tube. The machine may also incorporate a stand carrying a number of horizontally arranged tubes and a pedestal carrying a vertically arranged extension tube together with a loading mast therefor (see Figs. 8 and 9, not shown).
