Abstract
813,894. Electrostatic precipitation. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (Svenska Flaktfabriken A. B.). Sept. 30, 1957, No. 30542/57. Class 39(1). The plane collecting-electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator are placed parallel to the gas flow, the trailing edge 16 of each electrode being bent, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, to form a semi-circular baffle and the leading edge 15 preferably being of tubular cross section, thereby imparting rigidity to the structure. Each electrode 14 is supported by a hook 34 attached to its upper edge, and a tab 35 fixed to the lower edge fits into slots in a shock bar 26, Fig. 4, spacing being maintained by a pin 36 and studs 28 which also serve to vibrate electrodes 14 when a hammer 25 strikes the shock bar. Rows of electrodes are rapped in succession by a series of hammers 25 at different circumferential positions on a shaft 21. Fig. 7 shows the cross section of a collecting electrode referred to as being of known construction.
