813,627. Articulated link cartridge belts. FRENCH & SONS Ltd.. T. Aug. 11. 1955 [Aug. 12, 1954], No. 23386/54. Class 92 Relates to an articulated cartridge belt in which each link comprises an arcuate central arm 13, Fig. 1, extending in one direction from root portions 24, 25 and a pair of arcuate outer arms 14, 15 spaced apart and extending in the other direction, the arms 14, 15 being adapted to grip the cartridge whilst the arm 13 of an adjacent link is located between the arms 14, 15 and hinges freely about the cartridge. In order to reduce the pitch or spacing of the links without prejudice to free hinging movement of the links, the central arm 13 of each link is formed with a raised stiffening rib 17 having at its root end an aperture 18 whereby the rib of the central arm of the adjacent link can extend partly into the aperture to intersect the arc of the ribbed centre portion 17, during hinging movement of the links. The outer arms 14, 15 are also provided with ribs 19, 20, with gripping indentations 22, and with outwardly turned flanges 14a, 15a on their inner edges. An extension 16 on the arm 15 has an end portion 16a adapted to engage the cannelure groove of the cartridge. The clips may be made of half-hard mild steel or strong light metal alloy.
