Abstract

Apparatus for coating a parquet floor block on its underside with a layer of a tar-like material comprises (Figs. 1, 2) a slideway 1 with an endless belt 5 which conveys the inverted blocks 3 between guide rails 2 from a pile 4; the tar-like material passes from an opening 11 to a container 8 to a vessel 15 having a transverse slot, located above the endless belt, through which it is applied to the blocks, and it is then shaped to form dovetail or like projections by means which may comprise a wheel or drum 29 is used to force the coating into contact with the shaping tools 2a forming part of the guide rails between which the block slides (Fig. 9). The coated block then passes to a cutting device 30 (Figs. 1, 2), which severs the tar layer. A closure for the outlet 11 may be arranged to cut off the flow of tar when the endless belt is stopped. Fig. 10 (not shown), shows an alternative form of machine which dispenses with the vessel 15, the tar being applied direct from outlet 11 in container 8, and which includes a heated press <PICT:0813110/III/1> <PICT:0813110/III/2> <PICT:0813110/III/3> instead of the wheel-like member, and a sandapplying apparatus as a final feature.
