812,160. Separating solid materials. LOW. C.. CARGILL, D. W. H., and WARRANDER, C. S. June 19, 1956 [Jan. 31, 1956], No. 3031/56. Class 117 From the digger 11 of a potato harvester potatoes and stones pass 'from a shoot 8 to a conveyer chain 2 provided with blades 10, and are pushed over a stationary board 1 in which slots 3 and 6 are arranged. The smaller stones fall through the slot 3 but an upwardly directed air jet prevents the smaller potatoes from falling through. Spring loaded boards 4 extending transverse the conveyer prevent stones clogging the slot. Potatoes and the larger stones are pushed along to the slot 6 where an upwardly directed air jet blows the potatoes up the blades 10 to a conveyer 7 which delivers them to a shoot 9. The large stones are pushed over the end of the board.
