Abstract

811,678. Tipping vehicle bodies. TELEHOIST Ltd. Feb. 22, 1957 [Sept. 20, 1956], No. 28730/56. Class 108(1) An all-metal fixed-side tipping body for a commercial vehicle has a combination of longitudinal side-panels 13 bent towards their lower longitudinal edges, outwardly and downwardly to form side sills 16 affording marginal rigidity, and a floor sheet 20 the longitudinal side edges of which are upwardly turned to form radiused flanges 21 connected to the side panels 13 adjacent the top of the sills 16. Floor sheet 20 and the inwardly bent lower flange 19 of the side sills 16 are secured to a series of transverse members 23. Extra rigidity is imparted to the substantially flat side panels 13 by spaced vertical stiffeners 24 and by reinforcing channels 15 formed at the upper longitudinal edges of the side panels. The corner pillars 25 of the body also form part of the side panel assembly, the head board 10 and tail board 11 being attached thereto.
