Abstract

Class 16 [Also in Group XXXVIII] An indicator device for use in a filing system comprises a strip of deformable flexible material, to be fixed to a guide card a, a file cover m chart or the like, embodying a tubular portion b of substantially oval cross-section (see Fig. 6) upon which at least one ring or sleeve e constituting an indicator is adjustably mounted, the ring e having a cross-section such that any portion of the strip portion. b embraced thereby is deformed into a substantially circular cross-section (see Fig. 3). As shown in Figs. 3, 4, the strip is folded upon itself to form the guide rail b and welded along the lines c, d to form a pocket i in an index strip h. The unconnected lower edges of the strip are folded about the top edge of card a and secured as by stitching, stapling or adhesive. Slots or indentations g may be formed below the rail b to position the rings e. The rings e may be distinguished by colours or marked with letters or numerals. As shown in Figs. 5, 6, a transparent envelope m has a number of strips k secured one above the other, the rail b forming the upper part thereof and a number of rings e being used on each rail b for different indications. The strips k are also of transparent material so that data on a card in the envlope may show through as at 1.
