[Class 118 (i)] [Also in Group XV] An indicating device more particularly for use with index cards comprises a number of slidable elements employed in conjunction with inscriptions on the card &c., each element being provided with an aperture to receive a suitable actuating implement for moving them singly into and out of operative position, the major portions of the elements being covered in their inoperative positions. In one form, Fig. 1, the elements d which are made of celluloid or other transparent material are slidable between staples a securing two spaced strips b, c to the edge of an index card k. The rim g of a perforation f in each element projects into a vertical slot e in the strips c to limit the movement of the element, which is operated so as to expose the inscription thereon by the insertion of a pencil point in the perforation. Similar inscriptions are provided on the exposed part of the strips b. The elements are coloured or otherwise marked so as to be readily distinguishable. As applied to a card for indicating quantities of items in stock, the slots e extend almost the full depth of the card and the indicating elements each have a mark thereon co-operating with a scale on the card so as to indicate the quantity of each item.
