811,621. Asbestos-cement pipes. ETABLISSEMENT POUR MATERIAUX DE CONSTRUCTION AND SMIDTH & CO. A.S., F.L. Oct. 15, 1957 [Oct. 15, 1956], No. 32219/57. Class 99(2). In a machine for manufacturing a fibrouscement pipe 5, a plurality of rolling tracks 7 compress an axial peripheral region of the pipe 5 being formed. A felt band 2 carries a slurry 3 of cement and asbestos fibres over a guide roller from which a layer 5 of the material winds over a mandrel 4 to form the pipe. Sets of rollers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> extending throughout the length of the pipe carry the rolling tracks 7 which bear on the pipe compacting the pipe wall and are held taut by stretch rollers 8 under spring loading. The rollers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are journalled in bearings 111 which can be raised or lowered by hydraulic means 12. Both of the rollers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> can be positively rotated, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), or only the roller 6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5 (not shown), may be psoitively driven.
