Abstract

811,560. Scribing blocks. McMILLAN, L., and REBBECK, Sir F. E. Sept. 14, 1957, No. 28990/57. Class 61. A marking and scribing instrument comprises a scriber supported by a carrier 13 slidable on a vertical column 12 and having means for coarse adjustment thereon, the lower end of the column 12 being connected to the base for fine vertical adjustment by screw threaded lift means. The lower end of the column terminates in a screw 7 the threads of which engage in an internally threaded nut ring 2 retained against axial movement in a casing 1 which constitutes the base, the ring being rotatable in the casing to elevate the screw. A graduated disc 6 attached to the top of the ring allows angular movements of the ring to be read off against an index pointer 9. A screw 26 enables the nut ring to be clamped against rotation. The carrier 13 is locked in coarsely adjusted position on the column 12 by a locking pin 19 which engages with rack teeth 27 on the graduated column 12, the pin being operated by a hand lever 18. The scriber arm is adjustably secured to the carrier 13 by a stud which engages a slot in the arm.
