[Also in Group XIV] A holder for a casserole or other container comprises two spaced pairs of parallel relatively movable side bars 2, 8 and 4, 10 each bar being connected at one of its ends by a cross-member 6 or 12 to a bar in the other pair, helical coil springs 40, 42 surrounding the bars 2, 8 and 4, 10 respectively and urging the cross-members 6, 12 inwards, and means for engaging the side wall of the container. Two pairs of members 22, 20 attached at their lower ends to the crossmembers 6, 12 respectively engage the wall of the casserole and, at their upper ends, support transverse members 24, thereafter being turned outwardly to support handles 30. The springs 40, 42 are attached to the members 20, 22, so allowing the two main parts of the device to be pulled outwardly against their action and so to hold containers of varying size. In a modification, the ends of the springs 40, 42 are attached to the side bars, Fig. 5 (not shown). Alternatively, compression springs may be fitted and the free end of each side bar turned at right angles to provide an abutment for the respective spring to bear on, Fig. 6 (not shown). A single member may replace each of the pairs of members 22, 20, Fig. 7 (not shown). Each of the side bars may be twisted at one of its ends and formed integrally with one of the members 22, 20, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), in which case cross-members 6, 12 are omitted. The members 24 may be rectangularly shaped or straight.
