Abstract

810,950. Moulding chairs. JORGENSEN, P. F. W. Sept 23, 1957, No. 29892/57. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XIV] Dished seats having a grid-like supporting frame curved to give the desired contour with the framework open spaces provided with a filler material such as textile, paper, cardboard or other substance (see Group XIV) may have the struts formed of belts of textile, fabric or other material immersed in thermosetting resin and moulded to shape. The mould is a cement casting having half-hollow bricks into which electric heating elements are inserted and cooperates with a steel bell-shaped cover provided with an inflatable air-tight rubber bag. In one process grooves 20 are provided in the core 21 of the mould to receive the struts of the seat frame and provide passages for hot air from a generator 23, the air being drawn in through pipe 26 and exhausted through pipe 22. The core is also heated by heater bars 25. The bell 27 may have in place of the conventional rubber bag a heat-resistant plastic plate which is heated by exposure to infra-red radiation.
