Abstract
810,869. Drying apparatus. KORBER, K. Jan. 5, 1956 [March 14, 1955], No. 403/56. Class 34(2) Cigarettes &c. packed in boxes 1, Fig. 3, supported in inclined positions in opensided hangers 4 suspended from a travelling chain 6, Fig. 2, are conveyed through a drying chamber 9 through which warm air is circulated by fans 12. The chamber has a central space 10, defined by fixed top and bottom walls and side walls formed by an endless travelling band 17, supported on vertical rollers 15, 16, Fig. 2, and having apertures 19 spaced at distances corresponding to the spacing of the hangers 4 on the chain. The speeds of the chain and the band are synchronized so that the apertures and the boxes remain aligned during their passage through the chamber 9. The air is circulated through the boxes and the apertures 19 by the fans 12 which communicate with openings 11, 11<SP>1</SP> in the bottom wall of the space 10 and through heaters 13 with openings 14, 14<SP>1</SP> in the floor of the chamber 9.
