Abstract

809,386. High-frequency suppressor circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 3, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 36872/56. Class 40 (8). In an apparatus in which high-frequency oscillations from a shielded generator are transferred to a load via a pair of parallel conductors, e.g. a high-frequency furnace, a parallel resonance circuit is formed by a capacitor across part of at least one of the conductors which has an inductance; said circuit together with the impedance between the shield and the conductor adjacent thereto forms a suppressor system for the higher harmonics of the generator. Generator 1 comprises two coupled values 15, 16 in a housing 2 and the oscillations are transferred to the load 5 via variable capacitors 17, 18 and said conductors 3, 4. The capacitor 6 is connected across the part 7, 8 of conductor 3 and may have a low trimmer inductance 11 of high internal resistance in series with it which may have a movable core 12 of ferrite having high losses at the frequency used. The impedance between the conductor 3 and the housing 2 may be the self-capacity between those parts, or provided by a separate capacitor 9. Both conductors 3, 4 may have an associated suppressor system, and an inductance 10 may be placed in series with the capacitor such as 9 to form a series resonance circuit.
