A stack 4 of metal rectifier elements each having at least one straight edge is arranged with these straight edges lying in a plane parallel to and separated by a small distance from a plane sheet of metal 1 which has means, such as screw-threaded studs 2, for mounting it in area contact with a chassis or the like ; the stack 4 is enclosed in a block 7 of potting compound which has one surface bonded, at least round its perimeter, to the metal sheet 1. A thin sheet 3 of electrically insulating material of high thermal conductivity may separate the stack 4 from the metal sheet 1.
