Class 139 In a universal clock the minute hand 2, Fig. 1, is rotated by a spring or electrically driven movement 9, Fig. 2, and the hour dial 4 is stepped-on every hour or halfhour by an electric motor 21 the circuit of which is controlled by a periodically closed switch 13, 15. A detent 37 correctly locates the hour dial 4. Every twenty-four hours the indicator 34 is stepped-on to bring the appropriate day symbol into the window 36, Fig. 1. The hour markings 5 are made on pointers which overlie a zone dial 6 divided into time zones denoted by symbol letters A, B, C, &c. The zone dial 6, Fig. 2, may be rotated in any direction by an electric motor-40 to bring any desired zone symbol into alignment with the sixtyminute mark. During such movement of the zone dial 6 the hour dial is rotated therewith by the detent 37. In a modification, Fig. 3, (not shown) the hour dial is rotated from the minute shaft through transfer gearing and the zone dial-may be rotated through gearing actuated by an external knob.
