808,792. Spectacle frames. WISEMAN & CO. Ltd., M. Oct. 11, 1957 [Feb. 19, 1957], No. 5642/57. Class 97(1) The lens mounts of a spectacle frame are interconnected by a metal member including a nose-bridge and two bars which extend along the uppiper parts of the lens rims and are secured thereto at spaced points, and the usual side arms are hinged on the lens rims. As shown, lens mounts in the form of plastic rims 1 are grooved to receive the curved arms 3, which are integral with or soldered to the nose-bridge 1, and are secured thereto by screws 10 and 11 passing through the rear of the rims into tapped holes in the arms 3. Recesses 14 in the rear of the lens rims accommodate hinges for the side arms of the frame. Alternatively, the arms 3 may be secured to the front or rear surfaces of the eyerims or be inset in recesses or grooves in these surfaces. Each lens mount may alternatively comprise a strip-like member which follows the contour of the upper edge only of the lens and to which the lens is secured as by a flexible thread or cord embracing the lower edge thereof and attached at its ends to the ends of the strip-like member.
