Abstract
808,282. Inductors. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 24, 1955 [Aug. 24, 1954], No. 24384/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] A method of manufacturing an electrical component, such as a precision inductance coil, having a helical conductor encased by a vitreous support, includes the steps of assembling the helical conductor within the vitreous support and heat-softening and shrinking the support tightly about the helical conductor. The helix thus becomes partially embedded in the vitreous support which has an area contact with each of the turns of the helix and fixes the turns in relation to each other. The Specification describes the invention in detail as applied to the manufacture of a travelling wave tube (see Group XL (a)).
