Liquified gas, e.g. argon is stored in an insulated container 2 having a wall 3 by which the argon is placed in indirect heat exchange with a second liquified gas of lower boiling point, e.g. oxygen stored in a container 1 divided by said wall 3 from the container 2 whereby argon vapour generated by ambient heat is continuously condensed. The boiling points of the argon and oxygen are adjusted by pressure relief valves in gas vent pipes 7, 5.
