Abstract

807,755. Two-part couplings. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. April 20, 1956 [April 20, 1955], No. 11433/55. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] The fuse 8 of a switch fuse unit is held in a detachable insulating carrier 11 and three separate movements of the fuse and carrier are necessary to insert the fuse so that its ends bridge terminals 30, 31 in the base 1, the movements being (1) inserting the fuse through slot 7 in cover 2 until it lies between shutter plates 20 and presses down a catch 23 thus releasing plates 20 for rotation about rivet 22; (2) rotating the carrier and plates 20 until the latter engage stop 27 and the fuse end caps lie above terminal 30, 31; and (3) pushing the carrier further in until the fuse is firmly held by terminals 30, 31. Plates 20 and a disc 21 serve as a rotating screen for the terminals when the carrier and fuse are withdrawn. The switch is of the type shown in Specification 698,821, [Group XXXVII). The Provisional Specification refers also to two stage movement of the carrier and to different directions of the movements, also to the provision of a spring plunger as a screen.
