Abstract
734,424. Cut-outs. WILCOX & CO., Ltd., E. Sept. 28, 1953 [Sept. 26, 1952], No. 24132/52. Class 38 (1). A cartridge fuse comprises an insulating boxlike base 11 having U-shaped necked spring contacts 12 with connecting tags 16 located in recesses 13 by interengaging projections 14 and notches 15, and an insulating fuse holder 19 with a stirrup 20, aperture 23 and projections 21, 22, 24, 25 incorporating some of the features of the fuse holder of Specification 734,423. A fuse cartridge 26 is inserted into the stirrup (Fig. 4), the projections 22, 25 supporting the end caps 26A. The holder and cartridge are held vertically so that the upper end cap abuts the stirrup, and the end caps are then pressed into the contacts 12, the holder being displaced upwardly in relation to the base, as shown in Fig. 7. The holder is then slid downwardly, so that cam surfaces of the projections 21, 24 engage the limbs of the contacts 12 and force these together over the end caps 26A, the fuse cartridge itself remaining substantially stationary during this operation. When the holder is finally in position it forms a lid for the base 11. Notches 28, 27 are provided in the walls of the base for the projections 21, 25 respectively. In another embodiment (Fig. 8) the spring contacts have limbs with cam surfaces 52 complementary to those on the projections on the holder.
