Abstract

807,659. Road-vehicle spring suspensions. DAIMLER-BENZ A. G. Nov. 22, 1956 [Nov. 23, 1955], No. 35807/56. Classes 108(2) and 108(3) A shock absorber mounting in a vehicle road wheel suspension, comprises a spring 21 operative between wheel-carrying means (not shown) and an abutment 23 resiliently cushioned against the vehicle frame 18, the shock absorber 22 being connected with the abutment 23 by a stem 24 extending upwardly into an aperture in the frame 18, and a stop 29 on the stem 24 for limiting the descent of the abutment 23. In Fig. 2, the abutment 23 acts on the frame through a rubber bush 17. The stem 24 is centred in the frame by a rubber ring 27. The ring 29 is sprung into a groove 28 and is held by tongues 30 (Fig. 3), struck out from the wall of the stem 24. In another construction (Fig. 1, not shown), the spring and shock absorber are of the same length.
