Class 44 Relates to a stocking suspender of the type in which an upper member a and a lower member b are at one end secured to each other and in which a thickened portion of a head part c at the free end of the lower member 'is adapted to engage in a correspondingly shaped opening in the upper member to clamp part of a stocking interposed between the members. According to the invention, the opening in the upper member a increases in width to a point k<SP>1</SP> located intermediate its length and from there gradually decreases in width and emerges into a narrow passage k<SP>2</SP> terminating in an opening m adjacent the lower end of the upper member and the confronting portions defining the narrow passage are raised from the general surface of the upper member and form hookshaped projections u having at their lower ends adjacent the opening m receding inwardly-inclined surfaces x, which, when the suspender is in the closed condition, engage with correspondingly inclined surfaces t forming the rear edge of the head part c of the lower member, whereby at the same time a thickened portion s on the underside of the head part c engages in the opening m at the lower end of the upper member. As shown, the lower flexible member b is fastened to the upper member a by studs or pins q and a projecting hose y is formed at the forward end of the portion s on the head part c. Preferably the upper member a is of thermoplastic material.
