Abstract

806,681. Window opening, and closing, apparatus. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. Nov. 1, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 33800/55. Class 20(3) A vehicle window regulator comprises the combination of a back plate 4, which has lugs 6 for attachment by bolts 7 to the inner panel 5 of a door of the vehicle, and carries a pivotally mounted toothed segment 8 having a window actuating arm 9, a gear box casing 16, 17 detachably secured by bolts 14 the the back plate 4, and accommodating a worm, not shown, and a worm wheel 19, mounted respectively on the driving shaft on an electric motor, not shown, and a driven shaft 20, and a pinion 13 mounted on a stub shaft 12, carried by a bracket 11 bolted to the back plate 4, and meshing with the teeth of the segment 8. By removing the bolts 14, a mounting plate 15 for the reversible motor, and the gearbox 16, 17, the pinion 13 can be withdrawn, and a hand operable unit, Fig. 3, including a handle 25, overload clutch 26, and a pinion 27, similar to the pinion 13, can be connected to the back plate 4 by bolts 28. The window may be counterbalanced by a spiral spring 10.
