Abstract
806,357. Electric igniters. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. June 4, 1956 [June 8, 1955], No. 17173/56. Class 75(3) [Also in Group XXVII] An ignition device for combustion chambers associated with an electrical source having a voltage which is liable to vary within a substantial range, comprises a metallic resistance wire wound over an insulating member and presenting at least two portions connectible to provide different resistance values, switching means being provided for connecting the portions with the source in accordance with the available voltage thereof in order to meet variations in the, voltage. The device is particularly applicable to turbo-jet units. As shown, a metallic resistance wire 1 is wound on an insulating support 2 of crossshape section. This wire may be fed with current by a conductor 7 and at an intermediate point by a conductor 8. A switch may supply current to either of the conductors. Alternatively, two sections of the resistance may operate separately. The plug is fitted with an insulating plate 5. Fuel may be discharge on to the resistance by starting injectors.
