In a bubble tower, a bubble tray comprises channel-section members 20 extending across the tower and defining vapour risers 25 between them, the risers 25 being closed at their ends (Fig. 7) by end-pieces 37 with flanges 28 and 29 secured to the side walls 23, 24 of the members 20 and a base 33 secured to beams 12a or 15a, inverted U-section caps 38 being secured over the risers by bolts 44 to members 45 as shown in Fig. 6. The caps 38 are provided at spaced intervals with transverse stiffeners 40 slotted at 43 to fit over the side walls of the channel-section members 20.
