Abstract

804,758. Road joints. COW & CO., Ltd., P. B. July 26, 1956 [Nov. 14, 1955; March 15, 1956; April 25, 1956], Nos. 32522/55, 8178/56 and 12736/56. Class 20(4) A seal for the joints between adjoining concrete bays forming an aircraft runway or road comprises a tubular member 1 of nylon, polyvinyl chloride, polythene, rubber or like resilient material having fins protruding therefrom at an angle to the normal to the wall of the member and provided with an internal bar 6 extending diametrically across the member. Two sets of fins 7, 8 are provided, three of the fins of each set being inclined upwardly and the lowermost fins 9, 10 being inclined downwardly. According to the Provisional Specifications 32522/55 and 8178/56, the uppermost fin on each side of the seal may project farther than the remaining fins, the bar 6 may be omitted, and a depending skirt may be integral with the tubular member, thee fins being formed on the skirt.
